Today is one of those days that makes all the hard work worth it! I'm on set, peeping through the camera, and reviewing my shot list. We're doing a crucial reshoot/shoot for the intro scene of Episode 1, and I can barely contain my excitement.
The Creative Process
When I start any project, I always begin with the end in mind. I see the final scene, the last moment, the culmination of the story. If that ending doesn't make me want to jump out of my seat with some sort of emotion, I know I don't have something worth telling. Once I've got that spark, I tackle the meat of the project.
The Edit Reveals Itself
But here's the thing: what you envision, what you write, what you film – it's all just a starting point. The true magic happens in the edit. It's where the project reveals itself to you, often in ways you didn't anticipate. And that's when the intro scene becomes clear. Until then, I leave it open, letting the story unfold and guide me.
Today’s Mission
Now that I know what the intro needs to be, I'm excited to bring it to life. We're shooting the first half of the intro today, and I couldn't be more thrilled. There's still a lot to do, but I know it'll be worth it.

Why I love FLATLINERS
Flatliners R 1990 ‧ Horror/Sci-fi ‧ 1h 55m
" Flatliners, I'll be honest with you when I went to see this movie in the movie theater, I went because a lot of people were talking about it. And I hadn't really looked up any of the reviews.
But to be honest with you, I thought, well, this is going to be like a 'Brat Pack' horror movie.
I thought, this is going to be like St.Elmo's Fire, but with this weird, scary thing going on.
I sat down in that movie theater and I was blown away.
First of all, you got Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Billy Baldwin, Julia Roberts.
Nobody knew who Julia Roberts was at the time... and when the movie started - I thought,
yeah, I'm right -- Brat Pack movie.
But then - no, it's not.
It's actually one of the most tense, horrific movies I'd seen in awhile.
It is really good.
And I had no idea at the end of the movie - HOW - it was going to end -- which is kind of what I base if I'm going to like something on.
I really, really liked it, because I can watch something and go, that person's going to be dead, this is going to happen - on and on.
I really didn't know how this movie was going to end at all.
I revisit this movie at least once every two years, and I'm always blown away by all their performances and how good this movie is and how many people haven't seen it.
Now, I know they did the remake.
Like I said, I always stay positive. There's enough people putting stuff out that is not positive.
I don't focus on that stuff.
But....
...I thought the original - this one in 1990 - was by far the best.
It just captured it in something.
And all those actors together, ah, it was so good.
You gotta watch it."

Why I love the Series - Penny Dreadful
Penny Dreadful 2014 ‧ Horror ‧ 3 seasons
"Penny Dreadful is a series I watched a few years back, I know they tried to bring back from the studios all the old classic monsters and they were going to do this whole thing, kind of like what Marvel did and what DC has done - they put out the mummy, I think, with Tom Cruise and - well - the whole thing just died.
And I thought about it, and I was like, why - IMHO - tone.
Tone - tone - tone.
The tone was off - way off... in my opinion.
That's where Penny Dreadful KILLS it - the tone!
Werewolves, Frankenstein, Dorian Gray , the Hunchback, I mean, it's all there.
Also what made it work was the acting - what great actors - Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Billy Piper, there's just a ton of scene chewing acting going on here , and the sets and the directing - whew! Fantastic!
It did have some funny moments, some sexy moments and horrific moments .
Whoever did this series - I wish they would have done the movies when they tried to reboot the classic movies - instead of trying to make them like a comic book.
Penny Dreadful is great.
I've watched every season, never missed an episode.
I've watched a couple of the episodes twice.
If you haven't seen Penny Dreadful, give it a watch, especially if you like all those classic TV monsters.
I love the werewolf in this.
I thought the werewolf was fantastic.
Anyway, give it a watch.
